Back when I played Path of Exile 2 at the Summer Games Fest, I fought a boss living in a cave, who summoned the Grotty Wildlife to my swamp. Fortunately, I rolled a witch – perhaps the best PoE2 class began – so I could summon a skeletal army to respond. A similar encounter of Horde vs Horde is being conducted at developers POE 2 Grinding Games. The game was released in Access Access on the weekend and has attracted a lot of players that developers are hiring more employees to deal with the waves of supporting emails.
“We have had a large number of players logging into Path of Exile 2 since its launch, this is great to see!” Read an apology community group on the official forums. “Unfortunately, such a huge line of players also creates a large number of support requirements.
“Despite the best efforts, we are currently considering much longer time than expected on new emails, where we often target feedbacks in the same day, if not at the same time. We are currently hiring new people to assist to be able to handle increased load so we can reduce backlog as soon as possible.”
The post requires people not to send the next email to check the messages that have not been answered, so as not to clog the activities further. They also encountered some technical troubles with the “overloaded” ticket processing system, which made some emails handled inaccurate, creating additional delays. To put this in the context of my opening anecdote: it’s like when you summon a skeleton but you have read the wrong instructions and now the pelvic skeleton for a head, and you must be ashamed to reinstall again.
Of course, I am very frivolous. Technology support staff is one of the least game development champions. They deserve more than that of The Walking Dead because some of the asshole has the idea of ”customer service” as “Don’t be positive and happy to insult the intelligence of the reader”.
I was a bit surprised that the grinding tool had to be an employee after debut – Path of Exile 2 was always popular. It is not clear whether new employees are temporary or full time. Follow the first 2 patches, at least, there is no big technical problem to worry until now.
