Eidos Montreal fired 75 workers in cutting more for Deus Ex Studio

75 people were letting go by Eidos-Montreal, the studio announced yesterday. The developers Deus EX and Tomb Raider have fired workers because they do not have “the ability to completely allocate them”, according to a statement. It was an additional shot to the workforce at EMBracer, after a huge reduction last year.

“Today, we have informed our studio staff that we will allow up to 75 valuable members, because one of our missions is about to end,” said the management board in Linkedin. “It is not a reflection of their dedication or skills, but unfortunately, we are not able to fully allocate them to our other happening projects and services.

“These very talented, experienced experts will participate in the job market and we are working to support them through this transition.”

The company does not identify what that “mission” is. But it is most likely work in a current project, for any reason. Note the classic use of spinlingo without errors. The statement said that the ax workers “will participate in the job market” instead of speaking, being frogs there.

“Eidos-Montréal has committed to providing other projects currently being developed,” they added.

The only project that the studio has publicly acknowledged that they have worked in recent are the delayed fables, on which they are helping besides the playground games of the core developer. The company canceled a Deus EX game last year and fired 100 workers after canceling. We don’t know what they are doing right now.

Eidos-Montreal was bought by the Embracer group in 2022, after releasing Guardians of the Galaxy last year. Shortly thereafter, Embracer began a punishment to cut the cruel costs of workers on all of his studios. In March last year, Embracer CEO declared this “restructuring” process ended. But since then, the multinational corporation has supervised the closing of Gothic developers, the deportation of 139 people from a studio supporting Diablo IV, and only a week before firing at Crystal Dynamics.
