Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to check the upcoming control game of Remedy FBC: Firebreak, which took you to a series of weapons weapons weapons offices to fight in the afternoon and other “Paranatural” lifestyles in the corridor of the old house. The game is a first -person shooting shooting game, a little leaving people like Alan Wake 2. How, if any, have to change to create a game like Firebreak? They have, for example, hired a series of seasoned FPS developers? I asked the game director Mike Kayatta and the Command of Remedy Thomas Puha.
The first multi -player nails are not a “known” category, Kayatta admitted, but that does not mean that there is no wisdom in the house to call. “The remedy now, I think, nearly 400 people,” he said. We have people with all kinds and experiences far beyond the boundaries of Finland and the boundary of the remedy itself. That does not mean that the remedy has not done any recruitment with fire fighting in the mind, Puha added. “It is more experienced with things like auxiliary, these things …. Because, the way, the way we return to the day we make mobile games, and the network is granted, but all are very different from the requirements here.
As for creating a game with the first person’s perspective, Kayatta added: “We start with someone who knows what they are doing with that, and we told him: You have exactly something you are not allowed to do, and that is hit by the bus at any time, because the game will no longer exist.”
However, both Puha and Kayatta maintain that all of this is based on an existing foundation of strong understanding and skills in remedies. In the end, the company has existed for three decades and did not spend all that time working with the action ticket of a third person like Alan Wake, Control and Max Payne (of course, very different games in other aspects).
The first game of the company, Death Rally, is a fighting driver. As Puha has shown, they also worked on mobile games such as Agents of Storm in 2014. As the game developers’ ways, the remedy has any number of projects that have never seen daytime light, such as their “Kestrel” game for Tencent. Less positive, at least one FPS performance they probably want to forget. The elephant in the room during my conversation with Puha and Kayatta is the 2022 single game campaign released for Tencent’s Crossfirex. I have not played it yet, but the judgments elsewhere are not excellent.
However, experience is experience. “It’s not like we feel like we have to prove it, but there are people [working on Firebreak] Like our main designer, who has been here, 25 years, “Puha said.” Like, he participated in all the games. And he is building a lot of systems, and only seeing it up and excited him and many others – I don’t say people are not excited about other games, but that’s just something that challenges are very different.
“And there are challenges every day, when you make games and I like to see that. I mean, there are many new people in the game, but the veterans are like that, yes, I can do a series of things, it is a small team. [of 50 people]. It also added energy that way. “
Kayatta repeats the point. “I think I realized that fire was a remedy,” he said. “It is just a remedy that the world has not had the opportunity to see. And I think that’s what we are really excited, really showing that we are more than the things we have achieved prominence and attention – even though we too, and we are happy to continue doing it.”
Although the current spread of parallel projects can be “scary and difficult,” Kayatta added, “that means we will be able to bring everything out more often, and we will be able to give, you know, a more diverse experience.”
Puha noted that it is “attractive” when seeing how developers become associated with specific genres. “You do a genre, and expect it, oh, you must follow that. And I always wonder, like, if a number of different prototypes are active, when the very painful birth of Alan Wake happens – what will happen if the company has gone with one of those very different games?”
This is probably a good time to mention that the remedy has at least one other non -notice project on HOB right now, as revealed in investors’ presentations. According to Kayatta and Puha, it will take some time before we hear anything more about it. Conducted by fire?
