You know, with many games set in ancient Rome, most of them are strategic games, I’m not sure I have seen a pixel art game with that installation. I give this because Romestead, a pixel art game with that accurate settings, has just been announced at The Future Games Games Show. From the compensation, it seems like a little Stardew Valley, a bit of Terraria, and according to the publisher behind it three friends, the fact is an inspiration, besides the Snes Classic the Legend of Zelda: A Link to the past.
Described as a survival town, Romestead allows you to rebuild civilization from the destruction as a Roman leader (as a publisher concept, three friends are made up of former Devs Valheim and Minecraft). This is related to things like bringing your people to work by cultivation, blurring of weapons, fulfilling resources, all you seem to be able to do it yourself, so I imagine you cannot tyrant from the moment, as the typical of many Romans on this day.
There is a system of worship where you can pray for a series of Roman gods to unlock buildings, upgrades, technology, all that I find very interesting in terms of concept. “You prayed enough for me so I gave you the gift of a bigger house” is the way I imagined to play, which made me fall into a “not a strange video game?” Type.
The Zelda element appears through the evils you can explore and the bosses you can face, and a big Ole world to explore. And to boot, you don’t need to do it alone because there are many players.
Romestead currently has no release date, but it is planned for an early access release. If all this makes you excited, then you can want the game on Steam right here.
