The movement to boycott, divestment and international sanctions is calling for people to cancel the game registration, avoid video game assets owned by Microsoft such as Minecraft and Call of Duty, and boycott all Microsoft Gaming and Xbox brands to oppose the company’s business connections to the Israeli army.
Calls followed the allegations in January of the use of Microsoft’s Azure Cloud technology and Microsoft’s artificial intelligence products in the process of bombarding and invading Gaza.
According to a common survey between The Guardian, Israeli-Palestine +972 Judges and Language Store, with additional reports from Drop Site News, Microsoft has deepened their relationship with Israel’s defensive facility since October 7, 2023 Israel, reacted to an attack by connecting an attack on the ground and killing Gaza and killing the big part and killing Tens of thousands of Palestinians.
In their January 2025 article, The Guardian stated that Microsoft provided Israeli defense forces with storage and computing services and implemented at least $ 10 million to provide thousands of hours of technical support. The general investigation accused the use of Microsoft technology of Israeli security forces to manage the Palestinian population and movement in the West Bank and Gaza. It continues to claim that Microsoft has provided a set of Muslim media and messaging systems to manage the data of potential air targets. Microsoft has also allowed the Israeli army to reach the large scale of the Israeli army into Openai’s GPT-4 in recent years.
Both the Israeli and Microsoft army did not comment on the Guardian report at the time of publication.
According to Drop Site, two former Microsoft employees, Abdo Mohamed and Hossam Nasr, were a tool to promote BDS this week calling for boycott of Microsoft gaming services. According to The Guardian’s report, Microsoft fired the couple in October 2024 after they held a prayer for the Palestinians killed in Gaza outside the company’s headquarters in Redmond, Washington.
This is not the first time BDS has opposed Microsoft’s accused connections to Israeli military or security organizations. By 2020, they and other civil free groups spoke against Microsoft’s shares in Anyvision, an Israeli startup company with facial recognition technology used at border checkpoints between Israel and the West Bank. Microsoft then sold their stakes and announced that they would leave businesses investing in start -up startup companies completely.
