In an interesting case of two major story meetings in the middle, the former members of Downfallen Annapurna Interactive publisher have participated in the force to control a number of game projects that were previously published by Take-Two Interactive’s Label’s own part. Game projects in the question include the Kerbal Space program and an non -notified project from the developer Pokémon Game Freak.
It is from a new article of Bloomberg (Paywall), which is summarized usefully by the game developer. To give you the behind -the -scenes story here, Annapurna Interactive is a part of the media company by Auteur Fancy Auteur, Annapurna Pictures, known for films like Zero Dark Thenty and American Hustle. Founded in 2016, interactive labels are publishers of smaller game projects that are welcomed such as Kentucky Route Zero, Outer Wilds, Sayonara Wild Hearts and Neon White. Despite the important success of these projects, there has long been tensions between Annapurna Pictures and the gaming department. All Annapurna Interactive employees resigned in September 2024, after the failure of the negotiations to return to the brand as a separate company.
Later, in November, Take-TWO stated that they would sell the private department, and confirm the closure of the interception games of Olliolli World Devs Roll7 and Kerbal Space 2 Devs. The private division can be compared to Annapurna Interactive in publishing “between the floor” games such as Rollerrom and after us, there is a special combination of testing substances and blockbusters widely as enhancing Take-TWO’s reputation as a publisher of creative work and setting revenue games. Or at least, it’s my impression, based on many years of preview events.
It is a type of joint venture when the old “economic winds” are an owl and investors do not see the desired profit, even when the activity is making money. “The private group’s group has done a great job to support independent developers and, almost one, all the projects they support are doing well,” Take-Two CEO, Strauss Zelnick observed in November.
That takes us today. According to Bloomberg, a new group, currently the name of the former Annapurna interaction staff has signed an agreement with Haveli Private Joint Stock Company, the new owner of the private department, to control some projects and franchise of the private department.
The agreement does not include all the private parts working at the time of their sales. For example, it does not include two new projects from Yellow Brick Games and Bloober Team, but the private department will publish: Yellow Brick will publish their own game, while Blober’s agreement with the private division has been completely dissolved. For what is left of Annapurna Interactive, the executives of Annapurna are currently hiring employees so they can track existing obligations.
I have a lot of love for the squad of Annapurna Interactive, especially The Outer Wilds, and is happy to see some people involved in those projects stand out in another banner. I hope the former private parts of the private division have lost their jobs as part of the similar success in sales. I was also curious to hear about the bizarre new game, although I was exchanged for the heavy link of Game Freak with Nintendo, I would not be surprised if it was reserved for gaming machines.
