This is the heritage of Kain: the symbolic introduction of Soul Reaver by David Hayter - who was originally tried to the voice for Raziel

Have you ever wondered what the introduction about Kain’s heritage: Soul Reaver will sound like a snake actor David Hayter? Quite your specific, but a new documentary from Noclip may have what you are looking for. The past, present & future of Soul Reaver interviewed the main developers from the Adventure Action game, and about half of the Daniel O ‘Dwyer host holds some storage documents, including the old audio test tapes. They include Mark Hamill Reading for Janos Audren and Jennifer Hale for Ariel.

Of course, the biggest treatment is to listen to Hayter reading for Raziel, especially that is the excellent opening monologue. You will find the video below, with Hayter about 37:30.

Hayter and Hale are not the only actors Solid Metal Gear read for the parts of Kain’s heritage series. There is also Paul Eiding of Colonel Campbell as an older god, Cam Clarke of Liquid snake in the role of Marcus of Blood Omen 2, and another Raziel read of Psycho Mantis’s Doug Stone. They are all wonderful, of course, although it is hard to imagine Soul Reaver is said by anyone else. You can play toys with fate, dates and fate, but you are not disruptive with perfection.

The entire Noclip documentary is worth watching, with interviews with the art director of the Daniel Cabuco series, programmer Scott Krotz, and Ben Starr for some reasons. It was a great reminder of the technical witch and the smart compromise that made Soul Reaver run on such a limited hardware.

Kain’s heritage: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered was released yesterday, and seemed to have a widespread activity. And, just need to talk personal, it is special to see the long -term series receives some love again. Of course, I am a Hipen Omen, but the entire series has a great meaning to me. Now redo Omen Blood, you are cowardly.
